i remember an elder walking in the hall and it was the 1st thing he said to me as he saw me dealing with the sound dept.

lp was a long time elder before he 'stepped down' a few years back - unexplained.

his son zp, is a fine young man of about 22 or 23 now i think.

they have a carpet cleaning business.

With few exceptions, I think most JWs are decent, just misguided. .

I could not agree more! There are so many wonderful people trapped in this destructive religion.

They deserve to be freed!

No one deserves to be put in harms way (blood issue, child molestation policies, judgemental culture, practice of shunning etc etc) without good cause.

Let's see if each of us can free just one person over the next three months. There is a worthwhile goal!

Why God permits wickedness..the argument and counter logic

when i was a pioneer i used to get the comment a lot, as i am sure most here have.. my stock answer was the analogy.... wt 2002 10/1 page 7 as an example.

imagine a father allowing his child to go thru a painful operation in-order to get better...hence why god permits suffering.

anyway i used to trot this out without any counter arguments.. even when i left, it still seemed a reasonable explanations, then something clicked.

If our view of you, which is a result of the way the governing body of the WT has presented you to us, is incorrect, then you know what you need to do.

If you're not real, then this whole dramatic conversation is rather silly, isn't it?

PS to all: I just read my last post, and it sounded a bit harsh. For those who still have a faith in God, I hope you did not find it offensive. It was only meant to help wake up those persons up who may still have faith in the Jehovah of the WT.

Is JWD #1.....My Therapist....his first advice on JW's, me, and divorce

i have told my new therapist so much about jwd, some of the insightful comments here, and how much it has helped me and other dubs that we both now wonder if there are other jw help sites.

i really don't know as this was the first and only one i ever found, and it was just what i needed.. he has pegged me well as impatient, and knows i was vocal about my wake-up from jw.

his advice right now is to back off totally on trying to help any others, and i have told him that many here have said no one will wake-up until they want to for some reason.

Hey Oompa,

I'd just like to echo some of the comments here regarding starting to build a life outside of the JW group. Going back in for social reasons doesn't sound like a great fit for you.

If you are a strong enough person internally you may be able to pull it off temporarily, but it is not for everyone. The urge to shout bull*&%t from you chair may just be too overpowering.

If you don't think you can build a support group from the "outside world" that easily for whatever reason, then you can always try to pull a few borderline JWs that you like, out with you. That couple who attend only a couple times a month sound like a worthy target. Look around - there are others you could get to as well. Presto, instant support group.

Best of luck to you, my friend! Either way - I know you are going to get through all of this just fine.

Tower of Babel - /another thing/ God didn't have to do.

we all know the story of the tower of babel, and there are lots of things one can discuss around the topic, like for instance how god actually didn't allow mankind to 'experiment' with governing themselves, but chose to intervene whenever they seemed to get close to being united.. however - that is not the topic of this thread (and has been covered in other threads already).. .

so - what do i mean when i say "another thing god didn't have to do"?.

the first of the things i'm referring to, is the diversity of life itself, as it happens through evolution by cumulative steps of naturally selected, inherited traits over the generations of a population (i'm not going to go into detail here).. so - over to the other thing that god didn't have to do:.

Hi gang!

I believe that the story of Babel and the creation of all the languages on this occassion is perhaps the most ridiculous story in the bible ( it cracks the top 10 for sure).

I am thoroughly embarrassed that I once believed this to be true.

Japanese, Chinese, French, English, Spanish, etc etc. Yup, they all started at the tower of Babel. All the people just happened to look the same with the same physical features and they all moved away together and started life anew with their new languages in different parts of the world.

DOES ANYONE ELSE SEE HOW FRIGGIN RIDICULOUS THIS IS?

there was a cia agent that was just caught for stealing secrets.. i took the opportunity to say to my sister: "well, i remember stories that the kgb infiltrated the society and got as high as district overseers!

I suppose you can put a spin on just about anything.

The WT have become the ABSOLUTE MASTERS of spinning the most ridiculouos baffoonery in the history of our modern era. Just look at all the failed predictions and ridiculous policies on medical matters and scientific understandings over the last 60 years. They have turned a comedy of errors in to evidence that Jehovah is blessing them with flashes of light, and with a "refining" process.
